Hello to all you loyal fans, far and wide across the ether.

I am so sorry to say that I am not Emma Finn.

The wonderful Miss Emma Finn passed away peacefully in the arms of one who loved her very much, on August 19th 2016.

I am so sorry to share this sad news, but felt that you kind people must know.

You fans were an inspiration to Emma, and she adored reading your messages.  Her amazing talent for writing would not have flourished as it did without your devoted appreciation.

Good night from Emma.  Thank you so much for all your support.

  4. I am deeply, deeply saddened. As an author, I dare to say this is a terrible, terrible loss to the writing community across the English-speaking world. I have no words to express the sense of sadness all of us feel. I am so very, very sorry. Godspeed, Emma.

  5. I just wanted to share my blog post on GR. I am so upset:

I am beyond sad. A great author, Emma Finn, passed away after a many-months' battle, on August 19. I read and enjoyed virtually everything Emma wrote, whether published or presented on her blogs. She was a master at transformation (her words) or transposition fiction, with very erotic notes. She created the UK world of Nockton Vale, and built it into a fabulous, fascinating setting for her transformation novels.

As I think about all her novels, novellas, and short stories, I believe her books, One Thing Different and Criminal Record are two of the most ingenious collections and novels I've ever read.

For those of us who loved her work, her loss is beyond awful, beyond tragic. It is a profound disruption in the flow of great stories - great writing, great ideas, and great plots. She was primed to do so much more, even beyond the excellent work she'd already produced. Now, it is lost to us.

Emma was taken away far, far too soon. She was one of the great, ingenious writers of recent years.

Oh, I am so sad. Godspeed Emma!

  6. I'm very sad to hear this, like many who had the pleasure and privilege of reading Emma's stories I never met her but always enjoyed reading what she had written and like everyone here hoped that her health had improved, please pass on my best wishes to her family. Chris

  7. I'm devastated but sadly not surprised. Her long and unusual absence made me more concerned for her health. As one who lost a mother at a very young age I feel greatly for her new child and, of course the rest of her family and friends.

She will be greatly missed by those of us who loved her evil and delightful imagination but our feelings are as nothing compared to her loved ones.

    Sleep well, Emma.

We as her community of fans feared this, how much greater the loss and pain for her family and friends. I hope those who knew Emma personally get to see these messages, to know that everyone who read her work felt in the presence of a truly original and gifted writer who clearly fought tooth and claw against the terrible disease she suffered to bring to us the writings that meant so much to author and reader alike.

Like everyone else very very sad to read this news - all my love, thoughts, condolences and best wishes to Emma's family and friends at this difficult time

  19. I have a vision & a hope that this is not totally the end of Emma's efforts. I recall that she said that she had an outline of what she planned on doing with cleaner to the end of the story after they changed places in England. My suggestion is to take Cleaner 2 and add that to it and publish it on Amazon so her many admires could buy and read it. I for one would do so. Otherwise all of Emma's brilliant on cleaner 2 would be for naught - and it is brilliant work to make Dahlia's actions believable and almost inexpiable, I hope surviving members of Emma’s family does this.

  20. I remember that as well.I hope that the same can be done with lady Anne

  21. I'm so sad to read that...
I just sent her email last week to ask what's going on.

    My god, I can't believe it :(

  22. I'm so sorry to hear Emma has passed. As much as I liked Cleaner I hope her family is finding solace in each other and it's warming to know that she at least got to spend time with them before she passed on. I keep hoping that maybe she just retired and hasn't truly passed as I know she has family to care for and be there for. If her brother is still reading her blog I hope that he continues to write his own works and find enjoyment in pursuing his talents. Emma was as sweet as she was brilliant and she'll be horribly missed. I can easily deal without new chapters of her stories as that's a teeny, tiny loss (as great as they were) compared to the world's loss of her as a person.

  23. With a heavy heart, and an inadequate talent, I reach to the keyboard to try to find the words to express my sorrow.

Death is a fate none of us can escape. Yet, the drapery of mortality seems less heavy when, in the fullness of time, sustained and soothed by the unfaltering trust of children and grandchildren, we spring free of this mortal coil and step into the ever-after.

The sting of this untimely loss is magnified by the brilliance of Emma's rising talent, unfairly, snuffed out. The world is a little less bright tonight.

    Emma, you are missed!

  24. I am so sorry to hear Emma passed away. I knew her only through her work and comments on this blog, but I really enjoyed her work, her dedication and her sense of humor. She was taken from us way too soon, she had so much more to contribute. Fortunately for us, she does leave behind her stories and books that will live on and inspire future generations :)

  25. I'm shaken to the core. I think all of us who need this very specific genera of writing feel a bond with others who share the same desires. Emma really perfected it. She knew exactly what we needed to read, and her form and style really were perfect. She was an absolute delight to read. She helped me to learn about a certain aspect of myself, and ensured me that I was not alone in what I desired. Goodbye Emma.

  26. The Queen of transformation is sadly gone from our lives but atleast she suffers no more. My condolences go out to her family and friends. A star has disappeared from our community but an angel has appeared in heaven that could be said to be the ultimate transformation. God bless Emma rest peacefully.

  27. I just discovered Emma Finn's delightfully imaginative tales. I was gobsmacked upon my first visit to this site to learn of her quite recent passing.
I mourn for the loss to her loved ones and those who loved her works. They stand as a sterling testament to a gifted writer and sorry teller.
I only hope those she left behind will leave her works available for new readers and fans to discover and appreciate.

  28. Why did he have to kill Emma Finn off, he could have just pretended she stopped writing. No need to be so dramatic.

  29. (Cross-post) I've just recently came back to Emma's work after a rough few years and I'd like to express my condolences to Emma's family, late as it now is. She was an incredibly gifted writer who accomplished so much so quickly and must have been so much more to them. I really regret not commenting in the past and letting her know how thrilling her writing was. Does anybody know if there's a group or a forum where Emma's work is still discussed?

    2. Thanks! It's great to know Emma's stories are still being enjoyed. I'll start dropping by your blog, too!

And this is kind of tangential, but does anyone know if Emma ever talked about her outlines for the non-TF stories Chain of Vengeance and The Sixth Guest or how she would have continued them? Her writings outside the TF genre like The Slick Grey Thing and Tales of the Heart were great, so I'm really curious about where they were going.
